Johannes Bauer is Environmental Scientist and wrote his master thesis on the development of a risk assessment system of transgenic plants. He has been working at Ibacon GmbH since 2016. Since last year he has been Study Director at Ibacon with the focus on the XETA test method.

Michael Burkhardt is an Environmental Scientist with a Master in geoscience and PhD in agronomy. He has been working in the area of pollutants (pesticides, biocides, nanomaterials) released to aquatic systems for more than 15 years. His prime research interests are source-control and end-of-pipe measures to reduce environmental impact.

An Ghekiere is a Biochemist and did her PhD on endocrine disruption. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of chemical regulation. In 2019 she started working for the consultancy company Elements Advisory focusing on giving strategic regulatory advice and dossier preparation for active substances and biocidal products under the BPR (Biocidal Products Regulation EU 528/2012).

Maike Habekost’s PhD work was related to plant biodiversity. At BASF, Maike is responsible for the ecotoxicological assessment of plant protection products and biocides. From 2014 till late 2016, she worked in the US where she supported US registrations with her ecotoxicological knowledge.

Michael Klein joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (IME) in 1987 after finishing his degree in Chemistry. As a member of various EU-FOCUS working groups he was involved in developing fate guidelines related to pesticides. He is currently member of the EFSA PPR Panel.

Hanna Maes currently works at ARCHE Consulting as a Senior Project Scientist. Before, she was Leader of the Team Fish and Endocrine Testing at Eurofins Agroscience Services. Her PhD was on fate and effects of endocrine disrupting compounds, and she has previously held a Team Leader position at the Institute for Environmental Research of RWTH Aachen.

Board for the Authorisation of Plant Protection Products and Biocides (Ctgb)
Barry Muijs is a scientific risk evaluator at the Dutch Ctgb, involved in the authorisation processes for both active substances and biocidal products. His main expertise is the environmental risk assessment of preservatives released from e.g. wood, plastics, and paints. Barry is also a member of the BPC environmental working group.

Health and Safety Executive, Chemicals Regulation Division (HSE/CRD), Great Britain
Amanda Porter is a Senior Specialist in the environmental fate and behaviour group of the UK Health and Safety Executive. Her background is in microbiology and environmental science and she specialises in biocides product assessments and training. She is also a lecturer in environmental science for the Open University.

Edward Salinas has over a decade of experience performing chronic fish studies as head of the BASF fish toxicology lab. For the last two year he supports BASF Crop Protection with the environmental risk assessment and registration of safer plant protection products.

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Finland
Heike Schimmelpfennig has been working in the field of exposure and risk assessment for biocides and other chemicals for more than 15 years. She currently works as Senior Scientific Officer in the biocides unit at ECHA. Heike is the Chair of the BPC-Environmental Working Group as well as the Chair of the Ad hoc Environmental Exposure Working Group (AHEE) and also advises the Biocidal Product Committee on environment related topics.

Christiane Stark has a PhD in the field of biodiversity research. At the German Environment Agency, she is employed as scientific officer in the Biocides Section and has previously worked on the topic of classification and labelling of chemicals.

European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), Finland
Sander van der Linden is a Scientific Officer at the European Chemicals Agency. He has previously worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Chemicals Safety & Alternative Methods Unit at the JRC since the end of 2013, where he mainly works on the topic of ED and toxicity mixtures.
